Our Plan

It’s not you, it’s us. Businesses need to minimize their environmental impact to have any hope of a sustainable future. But we’re not just paying lip service, we have an actionable plan to be climate positive by 2025.

We strive to make all of our products from recycled or renewable materials. We choose what’s actually best for the planet, not just what’s going to sound green on a label.

Today, our products are made of 80%-95% recycled materials with the goal to get to 100% by 2024 by switching to bio-based and renewable sources for elastane and spandex. Learn more about our fabrics and fibers below!

By 2025, we’ll continue to minimize our footprint and build a science-based roadmap to get to carbon positivity.

We produce limited quantities of our products and only make more if you tell us to. This philosophy allows us to do more frequent drops because we don’t buy into product we know we’ll discount later (and it’s why we sell out so fast!). We also minimize our packaging, and anything we send to you is biodegradable or recyclable by you, at home.

All of our factories are WRAP, Fair Trade or SA8000 certified, which means they meet certain environmental practices and pay their workers a living wage according to the Global Living Wage Standard.

All of our fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified so there are absolutely no toxic chemicals anywhere near your skin.

Through our recycling program, Second Life, we’ll recycle as many pairs of underwear for you as possible—not just Parade’s, but any brand’s. The planet is more important to us than the fact that you shopped at that bright pink store a few years ago. Get started here.

We reduce our footprint as much as possible and offset where we need to with high-quality projects that are connected to our supply chain. In 2022, we’ll be working with our factories to help them transition to more sustainable practices—helping minimize our footprint and the impact of every brand who works with them.

Parade Product Score

Every Parade product comes with a score between 0%-100% that shows its environmental, social and circularity impact.

We wanted to create something fairly simple to use, but with a deep respect for the complexity of climate science. We prioritized carbon reduction over using offsets and factored in a product’s end-of-life options as well as how our factory partners treat their workers and the planet.

Our Methodology

Our methodology was developed with industry-leader, Eco-Age, to pull from established work from people like the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Each total score takes into account an individual product’s impact on:

Climate: How have we reduced CO2 across the lifecycle of this product?

Social: How are our factories treating their workers and the planet?

Circularity: What % of raw materials are recycled or compostable and what happens at the end of a product’s life?

Our roadmap is focused on reducing our Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions as much as possible and working with high-quality offset partners where we need to.

In 2022, we reduced our overall CO2 by 19% and by 36% per product.

Did you know

We reduced the CO2 emissions of every Parade product by 36%.

Climate Positive by 2025

While many other brands make pledges, we made a plan to be climate positive by 2025. And, we became one of the first underwear companies to join the Science-Based Targets initiative to validate our emissions goals. Our plan is in three areas: Emissions Reduction, Collective Action and Innovation.

✅ We reduced our CO2 emissions by 19% overall and 36% per product.

100% renewable or clean energy in our corporate or operational facilities by the end of 2023

100% corporate and factory partner waste diverted from landfill by 2025

Achieve climate positivity by 2025

Reduce our per product emissions by 40% by 2027

Reduce our emissions by 50% by 2030

✅ We joined the Science Based Targets Initiative to validate our climate plans.

Build a coalition of small and Gen Z-led businesses to share knowledge and work together on sustainability solutions for the industry by 2024

Create a climate justice-informed roadmap to center the voices of historically excluded and vulnerable communities by 2024

Develop a Parade Supplier Seal and initiate our own auditing by 2024

✅ Create a collection with innovative bio-based materials (we used cactus leather in our collab with Zana Bayne!)

Connect our 1% program to our value chain and community projects by 2023

Develop partnerships with at least one factory and invest in upstream sustainability initiatives with them by 2024

50% of all factory partners have direct sustainability or social impact programs in place by 2024

80% of product materials to be recycled or bio-based by 2024 including trims

Parade Product Score

Every Parade product now comes with a score between 0%-100% that shows its environmental, social and circularity impact. We wanted to create something fairly simple to use, but with a deep respect for the complexity of climate science. We prioritized carbon reduction over using offsets and factored in a product’s end-of-life options as well as how our factory partners treat their workers and the planet.

Our methodology was developed with industry-leader, Eco-Age, to pull from established work from people like the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Each total score takes into account an individual product’s impact on three key aspects

How have we reduced CO2 across the lifecycle of this product? We prioritize reduction efforts over offsetting and look at the climate reduction we can do across the manufacturing and distribution of each of our products.

How are our factories treating their workers and the planet? Highest scores are given to our products made in factories that are WRAP, SA8000 or Fairtrade certified. Every factory we work with must sign our Supplier Code of Business Integrity, which asserts they pay their workers in line with the Global Living Wage Standard.

What % of raw materials are recycled or compostable and what happens at the end of a product’s life? For this, we used the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Circulytics tool to calculate the circularity of our products.
